Catie's first 4th of July

My FAVORITE holiday is 4th of July.  Not just because of what it means for this country and us as individuals but because of a tradition that started just a few years ago.  For the past few years, my cousin and his wife host all our family, and most of Campbellsville out on their farm for food, fun, and fireworks.

Last year, I was all of 9 months pregnant and we thought the high 80* heat was sheer punishment and I was honestly surprised that I walked away from the cookout without going into labor.  But this year, our family looked very different and our little addition thoroughly enjoyed her first July 4th celebration.

This year, we were battling 100* temperatures, so we had my aunt buy and set up a little kiddie pool for the youngins to cool off in. Catie spent most of her time hanging out in the pool or staring at all the other kids.

One thing I was concerned with was the loud fireworks. My mother had thought ahead and brought ear plugs for Catie Grace's ears.  When the first firework exploded, it startled Catie but once she identified the source of the noise, she leaned back against my chest and watched the show.  There were several times where I honestly thought she had fallen asleep because of how still she got, but if there was a slight pause in the display of fireworks, then she would crank her head around trying to find where they went.  She would also lean back when there was a particularly high explosion and crane her neck back to be sure to take it all in.

We also were able to share this holiday with Jacob and Lisha as well.  They got a good taste of our Campbellsville roots :)

Can you believe that my baby is turning ONE? I sure can't!!

Well TODAY my little girl turns one and we become the parents of a toddler.

For the Rexroat birthday party, we combined Catie's birthday with Granny Dee's birthday for one special celebration.  It was a pretty quiet affair with just close family and friends.  I'm thankful to my Mother-in-Law who did all the set up work and just had Kelly and I bring the Birthday Girl.

Here are a few highlights from the day...

Watch me Shrink- 12 weeks

My "BEFORE" picture

"After" 30 pounds down

About 12 weeks ago I decided that I was done starting my millionth 'diet' post-Catie's birth and finally decided to go to weight watchers.  I had seen the success my parent's had following the weight watchers program so I knew that it worked.  After 12 weeks, I have now lost 30 pounds and reached my half way point in my weight loss journey.

I am now about 15 pounds less than I was when I got pregnant almost two years ago, but I still have another 30 pounds to lose to get back into a healthy range for my height.  I know some of my family and friends have expressed concern to me about my sudden weight-loss because of my history with anorexia through high school and my college years.   I can not express how thankful I am that I am blessed with people in my life who care about me enough to confront me when they think I am headed down a dangerous path, but I promise y'all that I am committed to doing this slowly and in a healthy way.  My biggest motivation and accountability factor right now is Catie Grace.  She is continuing to nurse and the breast feeding has been a HUGE contributor to my quick weight loss but if I do not eat enough and start flirting with eating too little, then my milk would suffer and the thought of that keeps me accountable.

My goal is to lose another 30 pounds by thanksgiving.  Thanks for all the encouraging comments and congratulations y'all have been giving me through out this journey. :)
